Vehicle with bovines seized on Mughal Road

POONCH, Oct 8: The police foiled a bovine animals smuggling bid to Valley and seized a vehicle along with four cattle on Mughal Road and arrested one person in this connection today.
Sources said that a police naka party at Poshan, about 28 kms from Bafliaz (Mughal Road), intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration No. JK02AA/4570 and found four bovine animals being transported to Kashmir this afternoon. While the driver was nabbed by cops, his associate jumped out of the vehicle and escaped. He was identified as Mohd Maroof, son of Abdul Kabir, resident of Hasplat in Thannamandi (Rajouri).
The police seized the vehicles and rescued the cattle. A case FIR No. 186/2014 was registered against the accused persons. The vehicle along with cattle was brought to Surankote Police Station. The accused during preliminary questioning told that he managed to cross Bafliaz and another naka by taking away animals on foot from hilly side and then loaded them in the vehicle ahead of Behramgalla.
