Veeri reviews modalities for establishing Model School in Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 21: Day after Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed asked the Auqaf Islamia Jammu to establish a Model School in the State’s winter capital,  Minister for Hajj, Auqaf and Horticulture, A R Veeri convened a follow-up meeting at Hajj House here today to expedite the process for setting up the proposed Model School.
The Minister directed the Auqaf authorities to complete the requisite formalities at the earliest so that the Model School is made functional from the next academic session.
Secretary Revenue, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Special Officer Auqaf Jammu, Abdul Satar and Administrator Auqaf Jammu among others attended the meeting.
The Minister said the proposed Model School would be an institution of excellence equipped with latest educational infrastructure including smart classrooms, library, laboratory etc. He said to begin with the school would start functioning from a rented building till the Auqaf Islamia Jammu constructs its own building.
The Minister asked the concerned to start the process for engaging experienced teaching staff for the school. He also directed for identifying, acquiring and fencing of a suitable piece of Auqaf land for construction of the school complex within set time-frame.
Meanwhile, the Minister inaugurated elevator in Hajj House Jammu. The elevator has been installed at a cost of Rs 26 lakh.
The Minister also inspected the proposed accommodation for operationalization of Nursing College in the Hajj House. He instructed the concerned authorities for completion of the requisite formalities at the earliest for making the Nursing College functional from ensuing session.
The Minister asked the concerned authorities to complete all codal formalities in this regard and identify the land for construction of Nursing College complex in the vicinity of Jammu city.
Mr Veeri directed the Auqaf authorities to take proper possession of the Auqaf land and other assets which have been notified under Wakaf Property Act to avoid encroachment of these prime properties. He called upon the concerned functionaries to adopt pro-active approach to protect the Auqaf assets across the State.
The Minister laid stress on proper utilization of Auqaf land and steps for improving the financial health of this important body.
He called for regular assessment of the Auqaf property to ensure proper revenue realization as per the market rates. He also emphasized to ensure complete transparency in the functioning of the Trust.
