JAMMU, Jan 17: National Conference Member Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri today moved privilege motion against the SHO City (Jammu), a Magistrate and complainant  for initiating criminal proceedings against a Member of the Upper House.
The House Members had taken serious note of the issue of lodging an FIR against NC member Showkat Ganai for his remarks in the Legislative Council few days back. The members pleaded that court had no jurisdiction in the Legislature and it was contempt of the House. He also sought action against the sub judge who had directed the SHO to lodge FIR against the MLC.  Dr Veeri  referred to certain sections and Rules of the Legislature conduct  and  sought directions from the Chairman.
He also moved another privilege motion with regard to the contradictory Statements of Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu mentioning  in his Power Budget that 23 lakh families exist in the State and the statement of CAPD Minister Ch Zulfkar that 28 lakh families are in the State. He said that Govt should clear its position. If families are 23 lakhs then why they are getting additional ration of  5 lakh families and where it is going. He said it is big scandal and needed to be investigated. The chairman admitted the motions.
