Veeri inspects under execution shopping complex, Jamia Masjid

JAMMU, Mar 12: Minister for Haj, Auqaf and Horticulture, Abdul Rahman Veeri today inspected the ongoing works of Shopping Mall cum Office complex at Residency road and Jamia Masjid Talab Khatika here.
The Minister was apprised that construction work of 4 storey shopping complex project taken up by the Auqaf Department is being executed through private public partnership mode at an estimated cost of Rs 23 crores .The work of the basement is in progress and the project is expected to be completed within two years.
Special officer, Auqaf, Abdul Satar, Administrator Auqaf Jammu and other senior officers and Engineers accompanied by the Minister during the tour.
The Minister said that the building will be an asset for Auqaf and help generate income in addition to providing employment opportunities to the youth.
The Minister while reviewing the construction work of Jamia Masjid said that Auqaf has provided Rs 5 crore so far for its construction. He said Auqaf would also help in the construction of tomb of the mosque, which he said would be 190 feet high and a great tourist attraction.
The Minister was informed that construction work of the Jamia Masjid would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore and so far about Rs 7 crore have been expended on its construction.
The super structure of the Jamia Masjid has been completed while as the work on the dome is in progress. The mosque has three floors and after completion would provide prayer facilities to over 25000 people. The mosque also has parking facility and other allied facilities.
The Minister during his interaction with the members of Jamia Masjid committee said that Auqaf will provide all possible assistance for completion of the mosque and added that the people should also come forward and donate whole heartedly for this endeavour.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to regularly monitor the execution of these projects for ensuring use of quality material and their time bound completion.
Mr Veeri also paid obeisance at the shrine of Baba Budan Ali Shah at Satwari and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State.
