JAMMU, May 25: In collaboration with Indian Army’s 10 Div’s, Artillery Brigade, 77 VDCs (Village Defense Committees) members from adjoining areas of Akhnoor were given firing practice organised by Akhnoor police at the firing range of Akhnoor cantonment.
All VDC members were addressed by SDPO Akhnoor, Ajay Sharma, where in genuine demands were highlighted by the VDC members and possible readressal was assured by the SDPO.
Later Commander 10 Artillery Brigade, Brig Vikas Choudhary and CO 52 Medium, Col Rohit Menan, addressed the members, highlighted their role in maintaining extended security grid in far-flung areas, giving sense of security to the residents of such areas, being vital source of intelligence gathering and above all maintaining high standards of discipline as VDC members.
Later all the VDC weapons were inspected, cleaned and firing practice done at the same firing practice range.
The VDC members were given on spot directions by Ajay Sharma to give new names/applications of able, motivated young men from the local area to fill up the vacancies.
All the VDC members had a informal interaction with Commander 10 artillery Brigade where in they shared their past experiences and assured full commitment to be a vital link in security grid.
