JAMMU, Jan 29: The Village Defence Committee (VDC) members today staged a protest demonstration demanding salaries at par with SPOs of police department.
The protest was led by Behari Lal Bhushan who said that VDC members are being working since the year 1996 without any salary or wages and now they are finding it tough to continue without salaries.
He also said that VDCs are providing security to the villages of J&K from the militants and have helped security forces in dealing with the menace of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Bhushan also said that they have also written to the Director General of Police in this regard.
