KATHUA, Dec 14: A Village Development Committee (VDC) Member committed suicide by shooting himself with his Service Gun late last night in village Khadar Bani.
He was identified as Jermej Singh, son of Jagdish Singh of village Khadar. He was VDC Member Asso in Bani an adjoining village of Khadar.
Police said Jermej was mentally upset and late last night he took up his service gun and shot himself in the neck resulting his instant death.
His dead body was brought to Bani by police and after performing postmortem in Sub District Hospital Bani it was handed over to family members for cremation.
The Bani Police has registered a case under Section 174.
