JAMMU, Jan 28: Viklang Chhatra Trust has demanded enhancement in the monthly pension for destitute widows and handicapped persons.
In a statement, the Viklang Chhatra Trust organizer Satya Pal Saraf has appealed the State Government to enhance the monthly pension of these people from Rs 200 to at least Rs 1000. These people should be provided some adequate sustenance allowance and it is Constitutional obligation of the State, he added.
Mr Saraf also criticized the Legislators for not properly raising their voice in the Legislative Assembly over the issue. Had these legislators voiced their concern in this regard, the Government would have surely enhanced the pension amount of widows and handicapped persons, he said.
