DODA, Nov 9: Vice Chan-cellor (VC), Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) Dr J P Sharma today chaired 12th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Doda at Bhaderwah.
Dr S K Gupta, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu, Dr Rakesh Sharma Senior Scientist Directorate of Extension SKUAST Jammu, Dr Neeraj Kotwal, Incharge RHRSS Sartangal, Sahid Iqbal Chief Agriculture Officer, Dr Tariq Parvez Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, K S Sodhi MCC Bhaderwah, Muzaffar Mehraj Assistant Director Fisheries, Adil Rashid MDO Doda and other district heads of agriculture and allied departments, scientists from KVK Doda and Regional Horticulture Research Sub-Station Sartangal and progressive farmers of the district participated in this meeting.
The programme started with welcome address by Dr S K Gupta. Dr A S Charak, Senior Scientist and Head KVK Doda presented the agenda before the participants. He presented action taken report and details of activities conducted by KVK Doda. Proposed action plan for the year 2020-21 was also presented and discussed among the participants for their suggestions.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor emphasized that in context of the changing scenario, the role of extension has changed with priority on linkages of farmers with the market and processing, value addition and branding of the agriculture produce. Besides, he stressed upon role of KVKs in technology backstopping for continuous technology support to the agriculture and allied sectors.
He also focussed on strengthening of backward and forward linkages and replication of success stories of the farmers. On the occasion, he also released publication of KVK Doda containing success stories of farmers of Doda.
Sahid Iqbal suggested for promotion of organic farming and Farmer Producer Organizations while K S Sodhi emphasized on collaborative training programmes on fruit and vegetable processing. Dr Tariq Parvez stressed on promotion of hydroponics and mineral mixture bricks.
Dr Narinder Paul, Scientist KVK Doda conducted proceedings of the meeting while it ended with vote of thanks presented by Dr GN Jha, Scientist KVK Doda.
