REASI, July 22: Taking lead against illegal mining in the area, Vice Chairperson District Development Council Reasi, Adv Sajra Qadir along with the help of locals of block Gulabgarh caught a JCB and Tipper involved in the mining.
The Tipper, bearing chassis number MAT778003M2F06 and JCB bearing registration number JK02B 3630 were being used in illegal mining at Shadole Khad, under the jurisdiction of Mahore Police Station when caught red handed.
Even as driver of JCB and Tipper tried to flee from the spot, they were overpowered by the people and handed over to Police along with the vehicles.
Locals have appealed the district administration to take strict action against the culprits to check illegal mining in near future. They also disclosed that threats were also made to them whenever they stopped the culprits to do illegal mining in the area.
