RAJOURI, Mar 9: Vice Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Prof Akbar Masood today released a Pictorial Field Guide titled “Economically Important Plants of District Rajouri, J&K, Western Himalaya” (Volume -I), authored by Dr Shreekar Pant (Coordinator, Centre for Biodiversity Studies), Zishan Ahmad Wani, Adil Farooq and Dr Virbala Sharma.
The pictorial book envisages on various aspects of economically important plants of District Rajouri, like taxonomic characteristics, part(s) used, ethnomedicinal uses, phytochemicals and pharmacological activities along with their coloured photographs.
On the occasion, Prof Akbar Masood congratulated the authors for this colossal task while also applauding the various facets of the book. He said that this pictorial field guide (Volume – I) will be of immense utility to researchers, teachers, students, scientists, plant taxonomists, conservationists, foresters, nature lovers and planner working in the Himalaya.
The program ended on a note that the book becomes guidance for students and academicians alike in the subject.
