World Refugee Day observed

JAMMU, June 20: On the occasion of World Refugee Day, various organizations of Displaced Persons (DPs) from PoJK, West Pakistan, Kashmir and other places projected their pending issues.
SOS International, an organisation of displaced persons from Pak occupied Jammu & Kashmir, has reminded the BJP-led NDA Government about its promise of constituting a National Refugee High Commission on the analogy of National Human Rights Commission so that DPs in India may get their rights.
Today is the World Refugee Day and we appreciate the concern of International Community towards refugees all over the world, but the Displaced Persons of Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir are so unfortunate that even after decades of our forced displacement from homes and hearths, we are still deprived of our due rights,” Rajiv Chuni, chairman of the SOS International said in a statement.
Chuni further said that PoJK DPs were mainly suffering because India is not signatory to the United Nations’ Refugee Law and the country has no State policy on the refugees, displaced internally or externally. Because of no State policy, there is no one to listen to the grievances of displaced persons with the result that three generations of the families of this community remain deprived of their human rights and even basic facilities.
Refugee leader recalled that during the UPA Government, then BJP MP and present Defence Minister Rajnath Singh after his visit to the camps of PoJK DPs here, had promised formation of a National Refugee High Commission but nothing happened. He hoped that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will make a formal announcement on the issue during his upcoming visit.
All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference meet held under the leadership of its president Ravinder Raina to commemorate the day, out rightly rejected the biased reports by UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as both these bodies have deliberately ignored the atrocities and human right violations committed over the Kashmiri Pandit community by separatist Pan Islamic fundamentalists and terrorists in Kashmir. These biased reports were, perhaps silently encouraged by the fact that plight of KPs was also ignored by the successive Governments, at State as well as at the Centre.
Raina expressed his dismay at the ways the HR bodies are projecting themselves as saviours of humanity while conveniently treading on the blood of the original inhabitants of the Valley. The world knows how innocent Kashmiri Pandits were killed & brutalized and forced to flee, but not a single report was submitted by these bodies on our ethnic cleansing till date, amply indicating the partisan approach of these commissions. Ironically these HR groups are highlighting the killing of terrorists and displaying their soft corner towards jihadist & separatists, while closing their eyes as to the reality at ground level. Dr TK Bhat, general secretary also spoke on the occasion.
Panun Kashmir in a meeting its Executive Council to commemorate the “World Refugee Day”. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the president Virender Raina and was attended by Kamal Bagati general secretary, Upinder Kaul general secretary (Org.), Ashok Chrungoo Treasurer, Vimla Chrungoo and others.
Raina while speaking on the occasion said that Kashmiri Pandits are a unique case where a community was forced to become refugees in their own country. They had to leave their abodes of more than 5000 years due to persecution on religious grounds simply because of the fact that they practiced a different religion. He said exodus of this community is greatest tragedies of modern India. He added that Nation failed to preserve and protect a tiny minority of Pandits in Kashmir but they have high hopes on Modi.
On the International World Refugee Day, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) strongly resented for being KPs as refugee in their own country for the last 30 years and also condemned UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) over ignoring the grave human right violations committed over victim KP community by terrorists, separatists, fundamentalists of Kashmir valley as well as by the successive Govts in the State and the Centre.
Kundan Kashmiri, president KPC expressed strong resentment and dismay as the HR bodies have failed to utter a single word in their reports about the ethnic cleansing and innocent killings of Kashmiri Pandits which include five measure massacres of the community as well as killing of Indian forces. These previous reports of UNHRC highlighted the killings of hardcore terrorists and human right violation towards them by Indian forces, who were in fact responsible for destruction in Kashmir valley as well killing and exodus of KPs, but not a single word is mentioned about the killing of innocent KPs, he regretted.
“As we, the Kashmiri Hindus, enter 4th decade of exile our genocide remains unacknowledged, unpunished and unreversed”, said PK convener Dr Agnishekhar and its chairman Dr Ajay Chrungoo while at a programme organized at New Delhi in commemoration of World Refugee Day.
They said there is a cosmetic attempt to address our rehabilitation. Governments of the day have only indulged in rhetoric on return, without acknowledging what actually lead to our forced extirpation from Kashmir.
They said separatist outfits responsible for Jihadist violence in Kashmir have sought to cover up their direct involvement in our genocide by haranguing that Hindus of Kashmir conspired to leave Kashmir.
The perpetrators of Hindu genocide in Kashmir, their collaborators in the Kashmiri Muslim society and political class besides among civil society in rest of India have remained in denial over our ethnic cleansing, they added.
