JAMMU, Apr 23: Vanshika Jamwal, a student who secured the highest rank in the Post Graduate Hindi Course 2023-25 of Jammu University, was presented with the Shanti Shaligram Medha Puraskar 2025 by the Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu, here today.
The award was given at a special function organized by the Mandal at Kala Kendra, in which former Additional Secretary of the JK Akademi for Art, Culture and Languages, Arvinder Singh Aman was the chief guest. Prof Rajni Bala, Head of the Hindi Department, University of Jammu, presided over the function and Dr Agnishekar, senior Hindi poet, thinker and social activist was the guest of honour.
This award, based on a citation, memento and a cash prize of Rs 11000/- is given every year by the Hindi Sahitya Mandal to the topper student of Hindi Post Graduate course of Jammu University to encourage them to continue moving forward in the Hindi world.
Vanshika secured the first position in her department in the two-year term 2023-25 with 75.55 percent marks and an SGPA of 8.53. The award has been sponsored by the family of Dr Chanchal Dogra, President of Hindi Sahitya Mandal.
On this occasion, 6 students of Hindi Department and some senior poets associated with the Mandal recited their poetry compositions.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvinder Aman called upon the awardee student to aim to work in the Hindi realm and also endeavour to write creatively so that she and the region can benefit from her brilliant talent in Hindi.
Prof Rajnibala, Head of the Hindi Department, said that the partnership between Hindi Sahitya Mandal and the Hindi Department, should not only continue but also grow. Dr Agni Shekhar also congratulated the Mandal and the awarded student.
At the beginning of the program, Dr Chanchal Dogra, President of the Mandal, shared details of the activities of the Mandal in detail, mentioned about the Mandal Book Mala and also informed about the online publication of the new issue 31 of the Mandal magazine Madhurima.
General Secretary of the Mandal Manto Dutta Sharma, Secretary Uma Sharma and Madhavi Sharma conducted the program. Rakesh Abrol presented a vote of thanks.
