Valley sees 2500 fire incidents; 37 dead, 1700 structures damaged in 2022

SRINAGAR, Jan 8: Over 2500 fire incidents have been reported in Kashmir over the past year in which 37 people have lost their lives while nearly 1700 structures suffered damage.
As per the details which have been shared by the Fire & Emergency Services, Kashmir, the highest number of fire incidents has been reported from Srinagar in which 414 structures suffered damage while 5 people also lost their lives.
Concerning the district-wise break-up, Srinagar recorded 566 fire incidents from January 2022 to December 2022 in which 414 structures as well as 33 shops and 13 shopping complexes suffered the damage.
Also, during the period, in Srinagar, 5 people were killed while 3 others were left injured. In the district, 14 vehicles were damaged in the fire incidents while 59 electric transformers were also involved in the incidents of blaze.
In district Budgam, officials said, 219 fire incidents were reported in which 112 structures were damaged apart from 10 shops and 12 shopping complexes. In the incidents of fire in the district, 6 vehicles and 15 electric transformers were also damaged.
Similarly, in Anantnag, 271 fire incidents were reported in which 3 people lost their lives while 2 were reported injured. During the period, 219 structures were damaged apart from 44 shops, 2 shopping complexes, 4 vehicles and 12 electric transformers.
In district Kupwara from January to December 2022, 328 fire incidents were reported in which 4 people lost their lives and 7 were reported injured. During the period, 221 structures were also damaged apart from 84 shops, 6 vehicles and 20 electric transformers.
As per details, in Pulwama, 219 fire incidents were reported during the period in the district in which 6 persons lost their lives and 111 structures were left damaged. At the same, 27 shops, 3 shopping complexes, 4 vehicles and 9 electric transformers also sustained damage.
The details further stated that in Shopian, during the last year, 94 fire incidents-which is the lowest in entire Kashmir-were reported in which 4 people lost their lives while 77 structures, 12 shops, 1 vehicle and 7 electric transformers also suffered damage.
In the district Ganderbal, 173 fire incidents have been reported in which one person was left dead while 85 structures, 15 shops, 3 vehicles and 10 electric transformers have suffered the damage.
District Baramulla, during the period, has witnessed 406 fire incidents, in which 4 people lost their lives while 241 structures apart from 6 shops, 6 shopping complexes, 8 vehicles and 14 electric transformers sustained damage.
In Kulgam, 145 fire incidents were reported in which 9 people lost their lives-which is the highest in Kashmir-while 99 structures, 16 shops, 2 shopping complexes, 2 vehicles and 9 electric transformers sustained damage.
Lastly, in Bandipora, 163 fire incidents were reported during the period in which one person was left dead while 120 structures were also damaged. In the fire incidents that have been reported during the period in the district, 20 shops, 1 shopping complex, 7 vehicles and 3 electric transformers also suffered damage.
