Valley biz bodies condemn Minister’s remarks

Srinagar, Apr 20: In a joint meeting held here, the top three business bodies of Kashmir today condemned the remarks of Industries Minister Chander Prakash Ganga wherein he had advocated use of bullets against stone-pelters.
According to a statement issued here, the heads of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and industry (KCCI), Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF), Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) held a meeting here, the factors leading to regular protests by people and the ugly response given thereto, through use of brutal force by the government were discussed.
“The provocative statements were made by some sections of political parties supporting the armed forces for use of brutal force and using the innocent people as human shield. The meeting took serious note of the provocative statement of J&K Industries Minister, Chandra Prakash Ganga justifying the use of brutal force against Kashmiris,” the statement issued here said.
The business bodies said the use of words like “latoon kay boot baton say nahi mantey” were viewed as “serious, based on insanity and adding fuel to fire”. “The meeting termed the statement as granting the security forces a license to kill. The trade bodies feel concerned and aghast on the threatening statements using irresponsible language unbecoming of a minister worth his salt,” said the statement.
The trade bodies vehemently condemn the irresponsible statement made with a warning to the BJP leadership to restrain their leaders and cadres from threatening Kashmiris and who are not used to taking such language.
