JAMMU, Mar 13: Abdul Gani Vakil, senior Congress Party leader, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here, at the Raj Bhavan today. Mr. Vakil discussed various important issues of public interest and welfare with the Governor.
Dr. Tej Pratap, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST)-Kashmir also called on Governor and briefed him about measures being taken by the SKUAST- Kashmir for the advancement of modern practices in agriculture and its allied sectors in the Valley and Ladakh regions, status of the various ongoing research projects and the new varieties of crop seeds developed and released by the University in the recent past.
He also briefed the Governor about the to-date status of staff positioning and infrastructure development and also discussed with him several important academic and administrative issues.
The Governor enquired from the Vice-Chancellor the measures taken by the University for boosting the optimum production of temperate fruit crops in the Valley and the action being taken by the Agriculture Department to undertake large scale plantation of high density fruit plants during this season.
