SRINAGAR, Dec 18: While welcoming the relaxations in the protest program announced by the separatist leadership recently, former minister AG Vakil today said that separatist has given Central Government an opportunity to resume a dialogue over Kashmir.
In a press statement Vakil said that any attempt to view relaxation as situation being normal will have dangerous consequences in future. He said dialogue with Separatist leadership and the Pakistan Government is the only way to address political concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He pointed out that the Central Government has not sent out any message for reconciliation and dialogue to either the Separatist leadership or the Government of Pakistan so far. Vakil welcomed the recent visit of delegation headed by former Minister Yashwant Sinha to Kashmir Valley for dialogue with different shades of people but expressed surprise over the role of the Central Government in this regard who has been disowning the visit thereby again creating confusion in the minds of the people if the delegation has not got the patronage of Central Government then what is the use of it and why people are being befooled, Vakil asked.
Vakil appealed the Prime Minister to be serious on Kashmir issue, nominate official delegation in order to initiate dialogue with Separatists and other stake holders. He reiterated his appeal to the people of the State to be cautious of the sentimental slogans of regional parties especially NC and PDP who have always been in search of opportunities to grab power.
Vakil also appealed the Prime Minister to personally intervene into the issues that have erupted during current unrest in Kashmir and asked for rehabilitation of those whose kith and kin have been killed and blinded during crow control policing in last five months.
