JAMMU, Feb 12: J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) today held its 9th triennial Provincial Conference at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, under the presidium of Rajeev Kumar, Yonus Rahi, Sunil Thapa, Kanta Devi and Bashir Ahmed.
While addressing the delegates, C N Bharti, General Secretary STFI, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that present time was very crucial, particularly for School Education sector.
“Centre and State Governments are implementing NEP 2020 speedily which is harmful for public education system,” he said and demanded that the Government should take responsibility for free, compulsory and quality education for each child. He also appealed the teaching community to participate in Parliament march on February 24, 2023 at Jantar Mantar Delhi.
During the conference, various resolutions were passed, seeking to restore Old Pension Scheme, repeal National Education Policy 2020, maintain strict seniority at Division level in promotions of Teachers to Masters as per existing norms, regularize incharge lecturers, Head Masters, ZEO’s and Principals, regularize all employees including contractual Teachers, Lecturers, Rehbr-e-Khel and Ret teachers from the date of they are working, exempt income upto Rs 7.5 lac from tax and raise standard deduction up to Rs 2.5 lac, start Pre-primary classes in every elementary school with proper infra structure, form norms-based transfer policy for all categories of teachers including Grade 2 and Grade 3 and Third teachers specially married women teachers, provide class 4th employees and clerical staff in all educational institutions, fill all existing vacancies by making DPC after every six months, debar teachers from all types of non-academic duties, etc.
Conference also elected new committee for next three years which comprised of Pardeep Singh (President), Yonus Rahi (Senior Vice President), Roop Chand (General Secretary), Bashir Ahmed Kanta Devi and Sandesh Kumar (Vice Presidents), Siraj Ud Din, Julf Qar Ali Malik and Farid Jaral (Secretary), Sunil Thapa (Chief Organiser), Anju Saini, Hari Singh (Organiser) and Angad Singh ( Office Secretary).
