SRINAGAR, Feb 28: The residents of Usman Abad in Bemina area are suffering due to the absence of electricity in the area for last several months.
The area, a residential colony which is a home to more than 40 families, has been forgotten by the PDD.
“The power voltage is such that one is hardly able to run an LED bulb in the house, even the street lights fail to work in such a low voltage,” the residents said.
Majority of the residents from the area have deserted their homes and are living at other places owing to the absence of electricity during the evening. “I live there, but to take a bath in the morning, I have to go to my relatives,” a resident of the colony said.
They said that the people are left with no option, but to use generators in order to keep up with the electricity supply, “but those who cannot afford are suffering.”
The residents have appealed the officials to look into the matter and resolve their issue without any further delay. “If there is no change in the electricity bill that we pay religiously, why can’t we get better facilities,” they asked.
