SRINAGAR, Aug 12: Usha Vohra, First Lady inaugurated “50th State Art Exhibition” organized by Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) at its premises here today.
Artists from all over the State displayed their works, based on varied themes, which were made in stone, terracotta and wood and oil on canvas and aluminium, acrylic on canvas etc.
Mrs. Vohra lauded the artists for their themes and artistic ingenuity and for very creatively and skillfully expressing their thoughts through use of different mediums. She observed that Art helps us in rising above the normal routine and gives wings to our expressions making life more interesting, enjoyable, aesthetic and meaningful.
Mrs. Vohra expressed hope that the Academy would continue its endeavours towards the promotion of Art and suggested that such a good collection of art works should be displayed for public viewing throughout the year as this would be a big encouragement for the artists and provide joyful moments for the viewers.
She presented Awards and Certificates to the prize winning entries and all the participants.
The welcome address and the vote of thanks were presented by Dr. Aziz Hajini, Secretary JKAACL, and Mohammad Ashraf Tak, Chief Editor, Urdu, JKAACL respectively.
