JAMMU, Aug 29: In order to avoid environmental hazards and to prevent adverse impact of plastic products on health, use of plastic water bottles in all the courts across Jammu and Kashmir has been banned.
As per the order issued by Registrar General Sanjay Dhar, the use of single use plastic water bottles in the High Court of J&K and district/subordinate courts in the State shall be dispensed with. “Alternate arrangement for safe drinking water that does not generate plastic waste shall be made”, reads the order.
The order further states: “Only multi-use water bottles/containers will be allowed in the High Court as well as in district/subordinate courts. Even water bottles of alternative material like glass, steel, aluminium etc may be used”.
Registrar Judicial and all Principal District and Sessions Judges of the State have been asked to ensure strict compliance to this order.
