Use of Doona-Pattal

Sir,
The article “Doona and Pattal- on the verge of extinction” published in DE magazine on 13th of April 2014 reveals the uncertain future of traditional type of utensils used by the people from the time immemorial particularly on special occasions like marriage etc.  I too belong to rural area, and know the local traditions and customs. Every time when there is a feast in village, people always use ” Doona and Pattal” to serve the food to invitees. Eating food in doona and pattals has its own taste.
But with the emergence of modernization and industrialization these traditional utensils are losing their values. In urban centres of Jammu region, Doona-Pattal has been replaced by disposable items. But in rural  areas people have preserved their culture.  In fact we should not forget our culture.  These traditional items should not be discarded as they are sources of livelihood to  many rural people and secondly they are bio-degradable and should be often used.
Yours etc…
