JAMMU, Aug 27: Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi, today said that entire Bhagavad Gita is a book of wisdom for the benefit and welfare of human beings. It teaches the art of living, a purposeful and a happy life besides enabling one to perform one’s work and duties ably.
Priya Sethi was speaking at a seminar organized on the topic “Teachings of Lord Krishna and its impact on today’s era” organized by Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, J&K Chapter in collaboration with Non Gazetted Police Pensioners’ Welfare Forum, J&K and Paryas Multipurpose Co-operative Ltd, Jammu.
Brig Suchit Singh along with MLC Vikram Randhawa presided over the function while Gurbachan Singh Mokha, president, Sikh Sangat, Punjab Chapter, was guest of honour. The proceedings were conducted by State president, Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, Dr Jaswant Singh. Jain Aacharya Subhadra Muni and many prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya Sethi said one must perform his or her duties ably and with sincerity and not for the results and fruits thereof. Let not getting the fruits of your actions be your motive to perform work; and yet you should not lean towards inactivity in life, she asserted. Teachings of ancient Indian scriptures and texts, she added were still relevant in modern times.
Jain Aacharya Subhadra Muni Ji Maharaj along with Jain saints also blessed the audiences and gave sermon on the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.
Dr Jaswant Singh in his address said, “You have control over doing your respective duty only, but no control or claim over the results. The fruits of work should not be your motive, and you should never be inactive”.
