US House passes 2021 spending bill that includes nord stream 2 sanctions

Washington, July 22: The US House of Representatives has passed the defense spending bill for fiscal year 2021, which also includes sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project.

The US House on Tuesday passed the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in a 295-125 vote. The NDAA now heads to the US Senate for consideration.

The legislation seeks $740.5 billion to support defense programs in fiscal year 2021.

The US House defense policy bill also includes measures that seek transparency on the use of military forces during civil unrest within the United States, and to prohibit funding for new nuclear testing in fiscal year 2021.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Office of Management and Budget said that President Donald Trump has been advised to veto the House version of the NDAA over sections that limit the use of funds in Afghanistan, limit the reduction of US forces in Germany and call for renaming military bases named after Confederate leaders, among other issues.
