Srinagar, Nov 2:  Uri town, which is known for mega hydropower projects, in Baramulla district of North Kashmir is without electricity for past one week after 400 KV transfer got damaged.
The local residents told Excelsior that from past one week they are without electricity. “We are in complete darkness. There is no electricity,” the angry resident said, adding: “It is ironical that Uri, which supplies electricity to North India, is without power supply.”
The residents today staged a protest in the Town and demanded immediate restoration of the power supply. “We are facing multiple difficulties without electricity. Our children are suffering as their exams are underway. The Government should immediately repair the transformer and restore the power supply,” the locals said.
An official meanwhile told Excelsior that it would take some days for the repairing of the transformer.
