JAMMU, Aug 28: State PDP vice president, Rangil Singh today said that there is most urgent need of reviving peace and reconciliation process in Jammu and Kashmir and for this purpose wholehearted sincere positive contribution from all political parties, civil society and right thinking citizens is much imperative.
The senior PDP leader was addressing a press conference here today during which he called upon all political parties to rise above their affiliations and contribute positively for ridding the people from their miseries heaped on them during unrest in the valley. He added that the reconciliation process which was started in 2002 by the then NDA Government had shown tangible results on the ground.
Referring to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s agenda of alliance, Singh reiterated this is not event related but it is a process which would be taken to logical conclusion through tangible initiations of political, economic and administrative fronts including dialogue with all the stakeholders to address momentous challenges confronting the State.
Reminding the political parties of their role at this juncture, Singh said that it is the time to find fault with the ongoing peacemaking initiative merely to gain political mileage without feeling the agony of the sufferers. “The situation requires whole hearted cooperation from every political party”, he added.
Seeking help from all the sections of the society, Singh asked them to rise to the occasion and contribute for bringing back peace and normalcy in the State. “Our people are known for their secular traditions and they should not be flayed away with directions of mischievous elements”, Singh added.
Expressing deep sympathies with violence victim families, Singh said that a comprehensive programme has been chalked out to ensure meaningful and dignified living for their kith and kins with restoration of normalcy in the State.
Party spokesman, Ved Mahajan, Ex-MLA, Rafiq Hussain Khan and vice-chairman, Bhushan Lal Dogra were also present.
