UDHAMPUR, May 6: The Udhampur Rotary Eye and General Welfare Foundation (UREGWF) in association with Rotary Club Udhampur and financial support from Operation Eyesight Canada undertook a project to provide Hygiene Kits to the vulnerable families mainly BPL, families headed by single women or families headed by a specially-abled person of medical block Chenani.
The distribution was started from the erstwhile red zone Panchayat Narsoo where 65 kits were distributed, benefiting 65 families, containing 300 persons.
In recognition of their efforts, a team of 12 frontline corona warriors consisting of Doctors and other medical staff along with Naib Tehsildar and Patwari were facilitated at Panchayat Narsoo.
They were welcomed with garlands of flowers and were also provided with hygiene kits to remain safe and keep the society safe.
Each kit contains 5 reusable masks, one pair of rubber gloves, 750 ml liquid hand-wash with a dispenser, soap bars and a disinfectant.
The contents of hygiene kit were selected in such a manner so that the vulnerable section of society could take care of their personal hygiene and hygiene of their surroundings.
Along with distribution of kits, the Community Health Workers are educating people about myths and facts related to COVID-19 and its prevention while following social distancing and other advisories issued by district administration.
“As of now 280 families were provided with hygiene kits benefiting about 1200 people of Panchayats Narsoo, Chirdi, Kither and Samroli, while a total of 1300 kits will be distributed in next one month,” informed the facilitators.
