JAMMU, Apr 28: Omar Abdullah-led National Conference Government has sought to clarify that Urdu language will never be excluded from syllabus and recruitment rules for the posts in Revenue Department.
Addressing a hurriedly called presss conference, here this evening with Dy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Advisor to CM, Nasir Aslam Wani accused the opposition PDP of spreading disinformation over the purported exclusion of Urdu for recruitment in Revenue Department.
“The Department (Revenue) has simply issued a notification on the recruitment rules and sought suggestions over the same. No notification on exclusion of Urdu from the syllabus or recruitment rules has been issued,” said Mr Wani.
“Our Government believes that Urdu is very important and most significant for working in Revenue Department and hence it will never be excluded from the recruitment rules,” he added.
Responding to a query over the PDP’s allegation of failures of NC Government on all fronts, Mr Wani suggested the opposition party to have patience and wait till next elections.
“People of Jammu and Kashmir have elected National Conference and we will go to the next election with our achievements in five years. PDP should have patience and wait till then,” he said.
Rejecting the PDP allegation of Omar Abdullah remaining busy in events in other parts of the country, Mr Wani said that besides delivering as Chief Minister of J&K, Omar Abdullah also has a great role on bigger canvass.
Also rejecting allegation of promoting BJP agenda, Mr Wani reminded that it was PDP that had joined hands with the saffron party for forming Government in J&K and rejected NC’s offer for outside support.
“Had they (PDP) acted on our advice and not joined hands with BJP, there were no abrogation of the special status and bifurcation of J&K into two Union Territories,” said Mr Wani.
Alleging that PDP was trying to spread negativity, the Advisor to CM said that people have rejected the party and it has not yet come out of this shock.
In response to a query, Dy CM Surinder Choudhary said that there was nothing wrong in seeking funds from the Centre.
“J&K is also contributing in development and growth of the nation and we have share in collection of revenue. If we take financial assistance from the Centre, there is nothing wrong,” he explained.
He reminded that then Finance Minister in Mehbooba Mufti Government, Haseeb Drbau had on record admitted that J&K had to repeatedly approach Centre with a begging bowl.
“PDP is a frustrated party with no line and length. They have no courage to speak on real issues like outsiders purchasing properties in J&K and occupying positions in the State universities,” said the Dy CM and reiterated that National Conference was committed for development of J&K and sacrificing anything for welfare of its people.
