Urban chaos

Sir,
Increasing urbanisation trend which we are  witnessing for the last two decades or more has posed many challenges to us.  Our cities and towns have enlarged vastly and population has increased tremendously in them. The number of vehicles has risen during last several years and it is necessary to mention here that roads have  not been expanded to the proper extent. There is no day when road accidents do not take place. Traffic jams have now become a regular occurance. Pollution has made life of people living in cities and towns extremely suffocating and miserable. Our  rivers and ponds that once had been pure source of water stand now extensively polluted and  it has posed a great threat to water  bodies in cities and towns. Increase of population graph in the cities has compounded crime rate. Murder  and cases of theft are day to day instances because of fleeing  of people from villages towards towns  for job opportunities. Urbanisation has added to the dimension of housing problems in both cities and towns. Large scale urbanisation has also given rise to contraction of agriculture  land in the urban areas of the State. Noise pollution in urban areas also adds fuel to the fire. Keeping these things in view the urbanisation trend needs to be stopped as soon as possible. It should be the endeavour of the Govt to develop villages viz a viz building infrastructure there and try to generate employment chances in vllages.  Welfare schemes need to be generated in rural areas for the women folk living in them. All essential services should be provided to the rural population  so that they live  a dignified life at the place of their birth.
Yours etc…
S N Raina
