JAMMU, Feb 6: Tarun Uppal, Core Committee member of Anna Hazare Anti-Corruption Movement has urged the Central Government to take effective steps in weeding out corruption from public life and frame Search Committee for implementation of Lokpal and Lokayukta within stipulated time.
In a statement issued here, today he said that anti-corruption crusader, Anna Hazare has ended his hunger strike today only after seven-day assurances give by the representative of BJP Government Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis on the Lokpal and Lokayukta issues.
“Fadnavis assured the activist that the Lokpal Search Committee would meet on February 13,” Uppal said.
“Besides, Anna also demanded that ‘Krushi Mulya Aayog’ should become autonomous and C2+50 formulas should be applied for produce price of farmers along with several other demands,” he said. He also expressed gratitude to the Maharashtra Chief Minister for considering the implementation of Swaminathan Commission recommendations to alleviate the plight of farmers, who have been facing serious economic crisis.
Uppal said that all the members of the Anti-Corruption Movement were on protest for the last so many days across the country at their respective states. He warned that if the demands are not met with in a specific time failing which they have no other option to stage a country-wide protest against the BJP led Government at the Centre and the consequences shall lie on the Modi Government also.
