JAMMU, Mar 1:Giving momentum to the development activities in Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Speaker Legislative Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta kick started the construction of lanes and drains at Shanti Nagar, Kunjwani and Ward No.56, Gangyal.
Accompanied by a large number of party workers and locals, Kavinder Gupta inaugurated these works in presence of officers from Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Rural Development Department. The works were taken up under the supervision of Rural Development and JMC at an estimated cost of around Rs 10 lakh.
While interacting with the locals and media, Kavinder Gupta said that the Gandhi Nagar has seen a new era of development in the last one year and the residents will experience more achievements in the coming time. He added that these lanes were last constructed nearly two decades ago and have been neglected by the previous MLA since then as a result of which the locals were made to suffer for so long.
Kavinder Gupta said that the funds have already been allocated for the black topping of maximum road length of Gandhi Nagar and the work was halted only due to decrease in temperature. He said as the temperature has increased and will be stable by the mid of March, the black topping will resume.
Stating that the financial package announced by the Central Government for the development of the State which includes works pertaining to improvement of roads, National and State highways, electricity, water supply, education sector, health sector so on, shows the commitment of the BJP led Central Government towards development of J&K.
He further said that the works which have been stalled due to negligent attitude of the previous NC-Congress Government have been taken up on priority and the people of Jammu will see a massive infrastructural change in the coming time and witness positive developments like flyovers for the city, tourist spots for special tourist attractions, model Bus Stand & Railway Station, upgraded parking facilities.
