UPA-III will give guaranteed right to health, shelter to all: Rahul

KARAULI (RAJASTHAN), Apr 20: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has sought votes for the party making categorical assurance

for guaranteed health care and right to shelter to all in party’s third term in the power after the impending elections.

Addressing an election meeting in this scheduled caste(SC) reserved constituency of Karauli and Dholpur districts today, Gandhi also targeted BJP for its pro-elite and pro-corporate agenda and reiterated that its only the Congress that had been championed the cause of the poor and down trodden and would continue to work for them.

In usual opening of his address with elaborated account on the UPA regime of rights and guarantees for elevation of their lives, Gandhi said that the present regime gave the people guaranteed  right to employment and food security and the previous Gehlot Government in Rajasthan had given the people right to health care by ensuring free medicines to all patients.

He said ‘Ten year regime of our party has pulled out 15 crore people from the below poverty line(BPL) level and now I assure you that on getting third term in the power in these elections we would ensure to provide guaranteed right to health care and right to shelter to all and would also bring in the middle class 70 crore people who presently are above the BPL stage but are living below the middle class level’.

Gandhi said that the previous Gehlot Government in Rajasthan has provided people free medicines but the present BJP government had threatened to stop it.

He wanted to know from the audience whether they are getting free medicines, the crowd replied in negative and also said that this Government is worthless (Baikaar Government Hein). I assure you that this scheme would be launched in entire India, we would implement it through out the country, then it would be immaterial whether the BJP Government do so or not’, he added.

On crowd’s ‘worthless Government’ remarks, sarcastic Gandhi disagreed saying no this Government is not worthless, I shall tell you for whom it works, he said observing it works for elite…rich..,.owners of branded things’.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and party State president Sachin Pilot also spoke and targeted the Vasundhara Raje led BJP Government in the State for its anti poor and vindictive working. (UNI)
