LUCKNOW, Feb 6: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that Uttar Pradesh (UP) will play an important role in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of making the country’s economy of 5 trillion.
“Uttar Pradesh is steadily moving forward on the path of development. The rail, air and road connectivity has improved in the State and the single window system is working better in UP,” the Defence Minister said addressing the seminar organized by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce (FICCI) at Def Expo-2020.
Rajnath said that the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is working as an able captain, so investors will no longer have to face difficulties in the State. He asserted that India will be established as the third major economic power in the world by 2023 under the leadership of PM Modi and UP will contribute significantly to it.
“By 2030, India will be among the top three economies of the world. UP will have important role in it,” he said and recalled that the PM has fixed a target of making India a five trillion dollar economy by 2024. He said some economists are asking how the country will achieve this target when there is a slowdown in the world. But despite the slowdown India is the fastest growing economy, Singh asserted.
Addressing the gathering, Yogi Adityanath said UP is providing immense possibilities and opportunities of investment. He said that here in UP, Industrialists can succeed in making India self-dependent in defence production, and also help develop their business and the State.
Yogi claimed that policy of UP Government is much better than other States and that is why the State is attracting investment. He said that the Eastern and Western corridors being built in the country are passing through UP and the junction of the two is at Burari.
“We will develop 17 cities as ‘Smart and Safe Cities’ in the State, in which Integrated Command and Control Centers will be established and there will be huge investment possibilities”, he said, adding, the road connectivity of the State is very good because of its direct connectivity to the national capital while air connectivity is with all over the world.
He further said that the State Government is developing infrastructure facilities in the State at a fast pace. “Expressways are being established on a large scale. Presently, the work of Purvanchal expressway is in progress and it will be operational by the end of this year. In addition, the construction work on Bundelkhand expressway will be started from this month. Also, the survey work for the Ganga expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj has been completed and its construction will begin by the end of this year”, the CM said.
The seminar was attended by Cabinet Minister of Industrial Development in the Government of Uttar Pradesh Satish Mahana, Chief Secretary of UP RK Tiwari, CEO of UPEIDA Awanish Awasthi and other senior bureaucrats including delegates from FICCI.
