MENDHAR, July 11: The soaring temperature coupled with unscheduled power cuts has added to the woes of the people of Mendhar tehsil in district Poonch.
The locals said that the power supply has been affected for the last about two weeks in their areas and the department concerned is not paying any attention despite lodging complaint.
The locals including Ved Sharma, Sham Lal Dutta, Vishal Bhasin, Rohni, Bharat Bhushan, Manu Malik, Atish Raina, Kamal Kapoor and Ketan Verma told Excelsior that intense heat wave and unscheduled power cuts have badly affected their lives. They said that 7-8 times power cut during 24 hours have added to the woes of not only the residents of Mendhar town but its adjoining areas.
The shopkeepers have also expressed resentment over unscheduled power cuts. They said that irregular power supply has badly affected their business. It has also hit the water supply.
The locals have approached Power Development Department (PDD) official in district Poonch to restore regular power supply in their area. PDD Sub Division Mendhar officials claimed that power supply has been hit due to some technical fault in the main line and the same is being identified by the staff.
