Union MoS Power inspects dam site of Krishan Ganga Project Bandipora

SRINAGAR, Sept 25: Union Minister of State for Power Venugopal Rao accompanied by Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmad Khan and other authorities made an extensive tour of Bandipora today and inspected the Dam site of Kishan-Ganga Power Project (KGPP). The team inspected the 23 km long tunnel which is in progress at Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).
MLA Bandipora, Nizam-u-Din Bhat, MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Director NHPC, J.K Sharma, Principal Secretary Power Sudhansu Pandey, District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Lone besides other officers accompanied the Ministers.
During the visit, people of the area put forth various demands which include providing of better power supply, providing of employment to unemployment youth in the power project etc. The Ministers ensured them that their genuine demands would be considered sympathetically. They sought people’s cooperation in the execution of the power project which they said was in progress for overall development of the area.
It was told that Rs. 3642 crore are being incurred on this 330 MW power project and is expected to be completed in January, 2016. Rs. 1637.73 crore stand utilized on it so far. In addition, about 10 km out of 23 kms long tunnel has been completed so far.
