Union Govt’s liberal funding immensely helped J&K: Tara Chand

JAMMU, June 7: Expressing gratitude to UPA Government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for liberal funding to Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today extolled that this has immensely helped the State to achieve new dimensions in every development field.
“The collaborative efforts of Centre and the State Government have really made a remarkable progress in socio-economic emancipation of people of the State especially those living in rural and far off pockets”, he maintained.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this while addressing a large public meeting at Khour block here today. He impressed upon the people to come forward and supplement Government efforts in steering the State towards peace, progress and prosperity.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that country has recorded massive development in every sphere of life including rapid industrialization, scientific advancements and computerization during the last over six decades. He also recalled the sacrifices of great leaders and freedom fighters who selflessly sacrificed their lives for the cause of the society and appealed the people to help realize their dream of creating a progressive and harmonious society.
He said Azad led Government during its tenure had registered substantial development in the State, adding that various development projects like Central Universities and Super Speciality hospitals both in Jammu and Kashmir besides bridges, road networks have been initiated.
Tara Chand said Government has provided adequate opportunities of jobs, development and other facilities to the people of rural areas. The education, health, road connectivity and PHE sectors remained priority areas and massive development in these sectors has taken place, he added.
Responding to the demands of the people for upgradation of Malla to Dori Degar road, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the work of road is under progress and would be completed soon. He said that Government is trying its best to provide uninterrupted power and water supply to the people.
On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed 15 cheques under NFBS among the beneficiaries besides giving financial assistance to BPL families.
He also honoured Preeti Bhandari of Kleeth Village who has been recently selected in IFS.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, Additional Divisional Commissioner Jammu R. K. Bhagat, Director Urban Local Bodies F. C. Bhagat, Director Social Welfare H. S. Bhatti, SE PHE K. K. Gupta, SE R&B P. L. Bhushan, SDM Akhnoor Naginder Jamwal, senior officers of various departments besides Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large number of people from various parts of Khour and adjoining areas were present on the occasion.
