UNHCR, others fail to take cognizance of HR violations of Pandits: KPC

NEW DELHI, June 20: On the occasion of World Refugee Day today, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) expressed strong resentment that Kashmiri Pandits are leading a refugees life in their own country for last 32 years and condemned United Nations High Commission for Refugee ( UNHCR), UN Human Rights Commission ( UNHRC) and others for ignoring the grave human right violations of the community by terrorists, separatists, in Kashmir Valley as well as by the successive Governments of erstwhile JK State and Centre.
Kundan Kashmiri, president KPC expressed strong resentment and dismay over KPs being refugees in their own country for the last 32 years and treated as migrants instead of internally displaced people. He also lambasted the UNHRC for being silent about the ethnic cleansing and innocent killings of Pandits which include five massacres.
He said the Governments never bothered to probe these killings and HR violations. They have been always concerned about the alleged HR violations of the majority community in Kashmir Valley, who were practically engaged in terrorism and other anti-national activities.
Dr. H LSaraf and Tej Pandita, general secretary and vice president KPC demanded the Commission of Enquiry to ascertain the facts about grave human rights violation and massacre of KPs so that the world will know the fact about atrocities inflicted on them including recent killings of innocent KPs in district Pulwama and Anantnag, Kashmir.
Other KPC leaders who spoke included M K Raina, Susheel Ji Bhat, R L Raina,Rajender Dhar etc.
