SMVDU pressing students for hostel/mess fee despite pandemic: NSF

JAMMU, June 20: National Secular Forum today alleged that despite closure of university functioning since March 2020 last year, students of SMVDU are being put to unnecessary financial burden compelling them to deposit varsity fee charges for the facilities not availed by them.
Dr Vikas Sharma, NSF State President pointed out that due to Covid pandemic , the academic activities in all educational institutions including J&K were put to sudden halt last year, but strangely SMVDU Katra is now asking students to pay for facilities, never ever availed by them last year; like, hostel, mess, library fee etc. The University administration has directed the students to deposit fee amount unjustifiably without giving any accountability of last year’s full annual charges received, he added.
NSF leader appealed the Lt Governor, who is also Chancellor of SMVDU, to take cognizance of the matter and order holding of probe as to how arbitrarily University is harassing students to deposit fee afresh, without tendering accountability of last year’s fee.
