Unfurling of Tricolours, cultural progs mark R-Day celebrations across Jammu region

JAMMU, Jan 27: The 65th Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety, enthusiasm and national spirit across the Jammu region with Ministers unfurling the National Flags at District Headquarters.
UDHAMPUR: The main function was held in the premises of PG Degree College for Boys where Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand was the chief guest. He hoisted the National Flag, inspected parade and took salute at an  impressive march past presented by 40 contingents drawn from Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NCC and educational institutions.
MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Gareeb Dass, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, SSP Udhampur,  Mohd Suleman Choudhary, prominent citizens and students in large number were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DyCM said that the Constitution of independent India came into existence on this day in 1950 which provides equal fundamental rights to every citizens of the country irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion. He said the public in general have the important role in maintaining unity in diversity and help in boosting developmental activities to usher in an era of prosperity in every field.
He said that during the present Coalition Government the State has made big strides in every sphere of life like water, power supply, education, employment, medicare facilities, road connectivity etc to make the people of this State prosperous, happy and economically sound. He further said that Tourism Industry has made tremendous development in the State with the sincere and dedicated efforts of the Coalition Government, adding the united efforts are needed to keep the pace of development registered during the last 5 years.
On the occasion, DyCM distributed prizes to the outstanding students.
SAMBA: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla unfurled the Tricolor and took salute at the march past comprising contingents of CRPF, Ex-Servicemen, JKP, IRP, NCC, Forest Protection Force and students of various schools.
Member Legislative Assembly Yash Pal Kundal, District Development Commissioner, R K Varma and large number of senior citizens and officers of civil and police administration attended the function. The school children and local artists presented colourful variety programmes on the occasion which were appreciated by the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Bhalla recalled the sacrifices of the great leaders and freedom fighters including Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Chander Shekher Azad and others, who offered sacrifices of their lives for achieving independence. He conveyed his special greetings to the para-military forces guarding the frontiers, adding that besides protecting sovereignty of the country, they are also assisting the masses during natural calamities.
Highlighting the importance of the Republic Day, Mr Bhalla said the declaration of Indian Republic on January 26, 1950 was the first milestone in the march of the nation towards achieving the heights of democracy and development on all fronts. He said India has emerged as the biggest democratic country in the world and is progressing by leaps and bounds in all walks of the life.
KATHUA: The main function was held at Sports Stadium where Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra hoisted the flag and took salute on the march-past comprising contingents of  J&K Police, CRPF, NCC cadets, students of various schools, scouts and guides.
Legislators, Subhash Chander Gupta and Charanjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Jitender Kumar Sharma, senior officers of police and civil administration, political leaders and senior citizens were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the achievements of the present dispensation, Ajay Sadohtra said that every effort is being made to ensure equitable development in all three regions of the State. He said development projects implemented across the State have not only transformed the outlook of the State but also improved socio economic status of people everywhere in the State.
Later, a variety of programmes were presented by the students carrying the message of communal harmony, brotherhood and unity in diversity.
The 65th Republic Day celebrations were held with zeal and fervour at Tehsil Basohli where MLA Basohli Jagdish Raj Sapolia hoisted the Tricolour at Ram Lila ground, Basohli. At Bani MLA Lal Chand unfurled the Tricolour in the premises of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bani while as Hiranagar MLA Durga Dass hoisted the National Flag at Mini Stadium Hiranagar and took salute from the march past contingents of school and college students.
REASI: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora hoisted the National Tricolor and took salute at the parade comprising 42 contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police, Police Training Centre, Talwara, NCC and tiny platoons from various Government and Private schools at Sports Stadium here. The parade was followed by tableaux depicting importance of elections and voting.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jora underscored the importance of this historical day and recalled the sacrifices of the great martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and others freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, who offered supreme sacrifices to get independence from the slavery of British rulers. He said it was responsibility of all the citizens to safeguard and uphold the hard won independence by defeating the nefarious designs of the anti-national elements.

DODA: Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majid Wani unfurled the Tricolour and took salute on the march past comprising contingents of JKP,JKAP, CRPF, FPF, SSB, NCC and school children.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Wani reiterated the commitment of the Coalition Government for holistic and all round development of the state. He recalled the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters during the freedom struggle of the country.  He also counted the sacrifices made by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and Paramilitary forces in safeguarding borders and maintaining peace and brotherhood in the state.
Mr Wani also highlighted the importance of employment generation avenues and programmes in the region. He said as erstwhile District Doda is endowed with vast natural resources and various Hydel Power Projects are in pipeline for which we need to build the technical and resource base of our Young and Unemployed Generation so that  we could be independent to operate and operationalize these Power Projects.
Later, a colourful cultural programme was presented by the school children and artists of Culture Academy Doda exhibiting rich cultural, traditions and heritage of the region. Mr Wani also distributed prizes among the participants on the occasion.
District Development Commissioner Doda Mubarak Singh, SSP Doda M.S Chouhan, ADDC Doda G.N Balwan, ADC Doda Imam Din, ACR Niraj Kumar, besides CO 10 RR, Commandant CRPF, SSB, and District Officers attended the function.
RAMBAN: Minister of State for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Aijaz Ahmed Khan unfurled the National Flag at District Police Line and inspected the R-Day parade comprising 15 Contingents of JKP, IRP, FPF, NCC and different schools and college students.
The Minister highlighted various aspects of success of largest democracy of the world, adding people of the Nation set an example for whole world for its unity in diversity. He appreciated the people of district Ramban as well as State for maintaining brotherhood, peace and  communal harmony.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion by the students of different schools and college of Ramban during which patriotic songs were sung in different languages including Kashmiri, Dogri folk, Hindi and other local languages.
MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Ramban M.H Malik, Superintendent of Police Javed Ahmed Matto, Brig. RR Sector, Bhuvesh Kumar, prominent citizens and large number of people were present on the occasion.
KISHTWAR: The main function was organised at historic Chowgan Ground where Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Home, R&B, MED, H&UDD, Tourism and Culture Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo took salute on the parade comprising contingents of contingents of JKP, IRP, CISF, FPF, NCC students of Degree college and Boys HSS.
District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Baseer Ahmed Khan, SP Kishtwar, District and Sessions Judge Kishtwar, Commander 9 Sector RR, DIG Doda Kishtwar and other District and Sectoral Officers, Army personnel’s, Government employees, school children and prominent citizens participated in the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister paid glowing tributes to the freedom fighters of the country, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of nation and free it from the slavery of foreign rulers. He called upon the people to maintain peace, communal harmony and brotherhood, adding that need of the hour was to thwart nefarious design of the elements trying to disintegrate the country and the State of Jammu and Kashmir by fanning hatred among communities. He called for safeguarding communal harmony and brotherhood which are the hallmark of our secular fabrics.
RAJOURI: The main function was held at the District Police Line, Rajouri, where the Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal hoisted the Tricolor and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NCC cadets and students of various schools.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Hemant Kumar Sharma, DIG, Rajouri-Poonch, Danish Rana, SP Rajouri, Mudassir Latifi, Additional DC Salim Malik, senior officers of Army, BSF and civil administration, prominent citizens and large number of students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the importance of the Republic day and said that the countrymen got this special day after supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters and warriors of our country. He appealed every individual, especially the students who are future of the nation, to keep alive the spirit of patriotism in them and preserve the hard won independence.
He lauded the role of the Army and para military forces, which have always showed maximum restrain and guarded borders of the nation with great courage and bravery.
On the occasion, students presented colorful bonanza of cultural items based on patriotism and national integration which enthralled the audience. The Minister also distributed prizes among the students who excelled in different activities. He also gave cash price of Rs 10,000 to the participating children for their extraordinary performance in the cultural programme.
POONCH: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah unfurled the National Flag in the presence of local legislators, District Development Commissioner Poonch, Principal and Session Judge, Senior Superintendent of Police, officers of Army, Police, district administration and prominent citizens from all walks of life.
The Minister inspected the parade comprising contingents  of J&K Police, Home Guards, school students and NCC cadets. A cultural programme was performed which was attended by the students of various educational institutions. The Minister also distributed prizes among the participants.
Speaking to a gathering on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the importance of the Republic Day, paid tribute to the freedom fighters and appealed the people to protect sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
SDM R S Pura, Sukhdev Singh unfurled the National Flag at Bana Singh Stadium, R S Pura in the presence of MLA R S Pura, Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, MLA Suchetgarh, Sham Choudhary and others. A colorful cultural programme was presented by the students from various schools on the occasion.
