Unfortunate that ministers not taking LA seriously: Deputy Speaker

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmad Gurezi lashing out at the government, today said, “it is unfortunate that ministers are not taking the proceedings of the House seriously.”
The Deputy Speaker made these comments when majority of minister were missing from the House during Calling Attention to matters of urgent public important was taken up.
After main opposition National Conference (NC) member Mubarak Gul raised a matter on behalf of Member Javed Ahmad Rana, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Chaudhary was not present in the House to answer the question.
On top of that, the concerned minister had not assigned the question to any of his cabinet colleagues.
Taking serious note of it, the Deputy Speaker said the ministers are not taking the House seriously. He termed the attitude by the ministers as “unfortunate”.
On behalf of the government, Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri apologised and said it was carelessness of the concerned minister to not delegate the question to one of his colleagues.
Out of eight matters taken up in the Calling Attention, four were related to PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control ministry. Mr Veeri later answered all the questions. (AGENCIES)
