JAMMU, Aug 23: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP), senior leader and Former Minister, Manjit Singh today expressed serious concern over rise in unemployment among the educated youth of Samba district.
In a statement to the press, the JKAP senior leader, Manjit Singh said that the employment avenues have reduced in the district with the closing of industries and factories sectors.
“The Government should come forward and help the unemployed educated youth in getting employment opportunities. The economy has been hit badly and steps for its revival should be taken-up,” said Manjit Singh after he welcomed over a dozen youth into the Party. These youth have joined J&K Apni Party from village Pekhri of Vijaypur and have expressed their faith in the party’s policies.
He said that employment should be created not only in the Government sector but in the private sector also to accommodate the uneducated youth.
“There is despair among the youth because of lack of employment opportunities. The lockdown due to COVID-19 spread has further aggravated the situation,” he said. “Therefore, the Government should come out with proper policy for the unemployed youth not only for Samba, but for all over Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
In a bid to give relief to the unemployed youth, he said “The Government should not charge fees from the unemployed youth of all categories including general category when they apply for Government jobs. The fee should be charged from those youth who get selected in the government service.”
Meanwhile, he expressed concern over the unscheduled power cuts in Samba district especially Vijaypur in which the Power Development Department has failed to supply the electricity.
“They send bills to the people but the people particularly farmers are facing the brunt of the department which is not able to supply electricity,” he said.
He said that the Department should enhance the capacity of the Receiving Stations in Vijaypur and Ramgarh to meet the requirements of the people.
On this occasion, over a dozen youth expressed faith in the J&K Apni Party and joined it.
