KISHTWAR, June 8: BJP has expressed grave concern over the encroachment of land by mafia groups in Kishtwar district and alleged that the and mafia enjoying the patronage of some politicians and administration.
The BJP in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sunil Sharma state secretary for the party said that the land mafia was harassing the innocent people in the area and forcefully grabing their land by mutating the revenue records.
Mr Sharma said even some Government agencies are also taking over the land of the people for public purposes and development works just to deprive the poor people of their livelihood.
He demanded a probe into the politicians- land mafia and administration nexus so that the poor people are not deprived of their agriculture land by the musclemen.
He also urged the administration to refrain from taking the agriculture land for construction purposes in the district in view of the topographic conditions of this hilly area. The meeting was also addressed by Ravi Kumar Thakur block president of the party. They warned agitation in case Government fails to contain the land mafia and polticians nexus.
