MACHIL(Kupwara), July 30: Under BJP rule, poor and downtrodden sections are witnessing only hollow slogans and false promises, but the reality is that the BJP Govt at Centre has betrayed people and failed them on every count. Far- flung and backward areas in J&K are most neglected in every respect be it the employment, the development or other privileges people deserve.
In the absence of democratic setup people are facing hardships. Unfortunately, the Centre Govt has handed over J&K to a few bureaucrats after abandoning people of their democratic rights.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Vikar Rasool Wani made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in Machil area of North Kashmir today. Wani was accompanied by senior Party leaders GN Monga (Ex-MLC), Mohd Anwar Bhat, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Mir Ruvais, Abdul Wahab, Dr Ghulam Nabi Lone, Gulsher Khan, Bashir Ahmad Khan,Firdous Wani and other party leaders of Kupwara district.
Addressing the gathering, JKPCC president cautioned the people especially STs, Pahari’s SCs, OBCs about BJP’s designs of dividing and using them for electoral gains, whilst the Modi Govt at Centre has failed to deliver on every count. BJP’s endeavours to play Pahari, ST and Hindu- Muslim card for the lust of power is highly condemnable and should work as an eye opener for the people. Apparently, J&K is under assault since the Modi Govt assumed power at Centre, JKPCC Chief said.
He appealed to people especially those living in border and far flung areas not to fall prey to deceitful policies, as that, BJP has always played with their emotions and used them for power.
Referring to the development of far flung and backward areas, Wani expressed surprise over the claims being made by the Govt day in and day out and termed these as hollow and baseless, adding that the developmental process started in J&K by consecutive UPA Govts has received severe setbacks, mere official handouts and inauguration of already sanctioned projects by UPA won’t hide the reality and the failures and mismanagement of the Govt.
Wani assured the people of Machil and other backward areas that the Congress Party shall continue to fight for their rights and deliverance of justice.
GN Monga questioned the delay in holding elections in J&K and said in absence of the elected Govt people are feeling isolated and unheard at every appropriate forum. He said there is a disconnect between the people and administration, which has to be addressed and for that matter the solution lies in restoration of democratic system in J&K.
