JAMMU, July 30: In the yesterday’s rejigging of party’s Central office bearers, the BJP national president J P Nadda has retained Punjab based general secretary of the party incharge of J&K, Tarun Chugh and Jammu based national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh.
Party sources said that their retainment was because of their performance as party general secretary and national secretary respectively and faith of party High Command over them. Keeping eye on the forthcoming local bodies’ elections in J&K and next year’s Lok Sabha polls, the party High Command does not want to disturb these two leaders.
While talking to Excelsior, Tarun Chugh expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda for reposing their faith and trust in him and said that he will try his level best to come up to their expectations in all circumstances.
“The three generations of our family have been serving the BJP and the party has entrusted a great responsibility on my shoulders which I will try to discharge to the best of my ability and capability”, said Chugh.
“I will further work hard to strengthen the party and try my level best to come up to the expectations of PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda to ensure the victory of the party in next year’s Lok Sabha elections for third consecutive term”, he said.
“I will leave no stone unturned in strengthening the party further in the areas of my responsibility so that the goal of PM Modi to make India world’s third largest economy in coming years and Vishaw Guru (world leader) by 2047 when the country will be celebrating hundredth year of its independence, is accomplished,” Chugh said.
He said “It is our endeavour that by 2047 India should emerge as world power and party and the Government is working hard in this direction under the leadership of PM Modi”.
Commenting on his retainment as party national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh said that party has expressed its faith on him and he will try his best to come up to the expectations of the High Command including PM Modi, HM Amit Shah and BJP president J P Nadda.
He said the greatest responsibility for the party in J&K and Ladakh UTs is to better its performance in the next year’s Lok Sabha elections by not only retaining the three Parliamentary seats which the party has won in 2019 elections but to add one to two more seats in its tally in next LS elections.
He said the party will redouble its efforts and BJP as a party is always ready for elections and it will ensure that the party should better its performance in both Lok Sabha and local bodies’ elections in both the UTs.
Narinder Singh, who was also incharge of Punjab, said that BJP in last over one year has made inroads in opposition bastions in Punjab. This can be gauged from the fact that in last Assembly elections the party got 10 percent vote share in Jallandhar while in recent by-elections to the Lok Sabha seat in Jallandhar its vote share was 16 percent.
He said party has made its reach to the remote villages in the State and the faith of people of Punjab especially members from Sikh community and farmers in Modi Government and BJP is increasing day by day.
He said the situation has quite changed in J&K post annulling of controversial Article 370 as many communities including women, who were deprived of their rights by the political parties who ruled the erstwhile State for over 65 years, got enormously benefitted after the Modi Government’s historic decision on August 5, 2019.
He said the situation is fast changing in J&K and there are no bandhs, strikes now. The stone pelting has been a thing of past and the people especially from Kashmir who were exploited by the dynastic parties for decades together have seen through the game plan of dynastic parties. “But now there are no takers for their cheap and exploitive slogans and the taking out of Muharram processions in the Srinagar city after a long gap of 34 years is an indication to the Modi Government’s and BJP’s commitment to bring the J&K as well as Ladakh on the path of peace, progress and prosperity and every party activist is wedded to it,” he added.
