JAMMU, Aug 19: Former Member of Parliament and senior Congress leader, Madan Lal Sharma has condemned the undeclared emergency which has been imposed by BJP Govt in Jammu & Kashmir.
In a press statement here today, Sharma said that BJP Govt is acting in an autocratic manner and eroding the democratic set up in Jammu & Kashmir. The manner in which police entered the Congress office and stopped the Congress spokesperson from holding a peaceful press conference, it shows that the BJP is hell bent to destroy the Fundamental Right of Freedom of Expression and Speech of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, he said.
The Congress Party is a National Party and the voice of a large section of the society but BJP is trying to suppress the voice of people by stopping the senior Congress leaders from meeting people and detaining them in their homes.
Meanwhile, the people living on border are suffering due to continuous cross border firing and shelling by Pakistan and the Government has failed to take a serious call to end the sufferings of the border people. These people living in border villages are as brave as our soldiers who are even laying down their lives for protecting our people and mother land.
Madan Lal criticised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his statement regarding reservation and said that the provisions of constitution that were given by B R Ambedkar need to be protected and preserved. The reservation of ALC/IB & RBA people should also remain intact and no change in their reservation status should be done.
He said BJP Government has backstabbed the people of Jammu by taking away the Statehood of Jammu & Kashmir. The Central Govt should immediately restore the statehood of J&K.
