UK Air Chief Marshal Richard Knighton appointed Chief of Defence Staff: Ministry

MOSCOW, Sept 3: UK Air Chief Marshal Richard Knighton has replaced Admiral Tony Radakin as head of the country’s armed forces, the UK Ministry of Defence said.
“Outgoing Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin handed over today (2nd September) to his successor, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton. Sir Richard s appointment was announced in June 2025, succeeding Admiral Radakin, who completed his four-year term, following his appointment in 2021,” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Knighton, 56, served as the Chief of the Air Staff of the UK air force.
According to Knighton’s official biography on the Ministry of Defence website, under his leadership, the Royal Air Force participated in air strikes against Houthis in Yemen, supplied aid to Ukraine and delivered humanitarian supplies to Gaza. (UNI)
