UDHAMPUR, May 27: The District-Level Inter-Zone Sports Meet for Girls (U14 & U17) commenced with vibrant energy under the aegis of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Jammu & Kashmir UT.
Over 429 young female athletes from 11 educational zones participated in this spirited event, inaugurated by Romesh Chander Mishra as the chief guest.
The meet featured intense competitions across various track and field events. Shilpa Thakur from Zone Ramnagar won the 100m sprint, while Sangra Devi from Pancheri clinched the 200m. Tania Sharma of Zone Jib secured first place in the 400m and Divu Sharma from Chenani dominated the 1500m run. Kajal Babey triumphed in the Long Jump, Kiran Sharma won the Shot Put and Kajal again impressed in the Discus Throw. In team events, Ramnagar won the U17 Badminton title, while Udhampur claimed victories in U14 Badminton and both U14 and U17 Handball, defeating Zone Jib in the finals. Yoga demonstrations and Taekwondo trials added a holistic touch to the event.
