JAMMU, May 4: To commemorate the 75th birth anniversary of Late R C Gupta, founder of Tawi Welfare Society (TWS), a function was organized here today.
The event held at “Apnavan” in village Sureh Chak was attended by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLA Surinder Kumar.
Earlier Yash Paul Mangotra, general secretary, TWS welcomed all the guests and briefed about various kinds of welfare activities being undertaken by the society from time to time.
“TWS could be successful so far because, we have not deviated from our original policy of doing goods to others to the best possible without discrimination but gracefully,” he said.
The MP and MLA appreciated the organization’s efforts and encouraged them to continue their philanthropic work.
R Vijay Magotra, executive committee member of District Red Cross Society shared various experiences of his association with late Gupta.
I D Soni, president, Home for Aged and Infirm in his address said Gupta was a saint like always concerned about the welfare of others.
“He was an asset not only for TWS but the society at large and I salute him for the big contributions he made not only during his life time but after his departure also he is being remembered for his number of good deeds,” Soni said.
The ceremony was a tribute to Late R C Gupta’s inspirational legacy of social service.
The attendees paid homage to his contributions to society and drew inspiration from his selfless work.
During the program ration kits were also distributed to needy families, embodying the spirit of social service.
The event saw a large gathering of social workers, local citizens, students and society members.
