Two women among 3 die of COVID-19 in Jammu

One more casualty, 48 cases in Ladakh

JAMMU, Oct 20: Two women were among three persons who died of Coronavirus in the Jammu region taking death toll to 463 and 241 persons tested positive, nearly half of them i.e. 118 in Jammu district, while 349 persons recovered from the virus today.
Fifty seven persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu district during Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT).
Among them, five reported positive from Parade Ground, two each from Talab Tillo and Udheywala and one from Government Higher Secondary School Jullaka Mohalla.
A total of 257 persons were subjected to testing in Government offices, schools and City Markets and, of them, only 10 tested positive.
However, in the rural areas, seven positives were reported from Kot Bhalwal, four Sohanjana, three Akhnoor, two Bishnah and one each at Chowki Choura, Marh and RS Pura.
A 67-year-old woman from Bishnah Adda, who was co-morbid and positive for the virus, died in Narayana Hospital Katra where she was under treatment for past 17 days while 70-year-old woman from Ward No. 9 New Hospital Road in Udhampur district succumbed to multiple ailments and COVID in Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Ludhiana after 12 days of treatment.
A 65-year-old man from Janipura Colony, died of co-morbidities and virus, in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu where he was admitted for past 18 days.
With the three deaths, Jammu region’s Corona toll has gone up to 463.
Jammu district topped the tally with 239 followed by 45 in Rajouri, 42 Doda, 30 Kathua, 27 Udhampur, 25 Samba, 22 Poonch, 14 Kishtwar, 12 Ramban and seven in Reasi district.
Of 241 COVID-19 positive cases reported in Jammu region today, Jammu district accounted for 118 and, significantly, all of them were locals.
All 25 cases in Kishtwar, 13 Reasi, 11 Ramban, 10 Rajouri and nine in Kathua district were locals, as per the official data released by the Health Department.
Among 25 positive cases in Doda, 24 were locals while out of 10 cases in Udhampur district, nine were locals. In Poonch, 11 out of 13 and in Samba district, six of seven COVID positive persons were locals and rest travelers.
Meanwhile, 349 patients today recovered from the virus, the highest being 143 in Jammu district, 52 Doda, 50 Poonch, 42 Rajouri, 38 Kishtwar, 12 Udhampur, 11 Kathua and one in Ramban district. Samba and Reasi districts didn’t report any Corona positive case today.
Jammu region now has 35656 Corona positive cases. Of them, 3078 are active positives while 32115 have recovered from the virus. There have been 463 casualties.
Meanwhile, one casualty and 48 new cases of COVID-19 were today reported from the Union Territory of Ladakh-42 in Leh and six in Kargil district.
The fresh Corona casualty was reported in Leh district. Ladakh now has 67 Corona casualties-29 in Leh and 38 in Kargil.
Corona tally of Ladakh stood at 5695—3891 in Leh and 1804 in Kargil. There were 841 active positive cases in Ladakh as 4787 persons have recovered from the virus.
