Two-wheelers lifting gang busted; 5 arrested with 15 stolen vehicles: SP

JAMMU, Nov 30: Nowabad and Canal Road Police jointly busted two-wheelers lifting gang with the arrest of four persons along with 15 stolen vehicles.
This was informed by Superintendent of Police (SP) City Mohita Sharma while interacting with media persons here today evening.

Divulging the details, SP said to investigate various theft cases, a team from Police Station Nowabad led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria and assisted by Incharge Police Post Canal Road SI Ravinder Singh was constituted under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma.
The team after analysis of CCTV cameras footages of different areas along with the technical assistance finally rounded up a suspect namely Rahul Sharma alias Bibu, son of Vijay Kumar Sharma, a resident of Gujjar Nagar District Jammu.
“During sustained questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in various cases and also disclosed the names of other vehicle lifters”, SP Mohita Sharma said, adding that the team rounded up four more suspects.
“On intensive questioning, these four suspects also accepted their involvement in various vehicle theft cases and were arrested accordingly. They were identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Sham Lal, a resident of Ramnagar District Udhampur, Mohammad Tareef, son of Mohammad Aslam of Katra District Reasi, Nikhil Goswami, son of Mohinder Pal of Baba Basti Gujjar Nagar District Jammu and Mohammad Ishfaq, son of Mohammad Sharif of Vidhata Nagar Bathindi District Jammu”, SP City informed.
With their arrest, three different cases registered under FIR Numbers 154/2021, 171/2021 and 183/2021 under Section 379 IPC with Police Station Nowabad have been solved, SP said.
“On the disclosure of these five accused, 15 vehicles especially scooties were recovered”, SP said, adding that further questioning of the arrested accused is going on.
